Actor Will Patton charged with DUI

When someone gets a San Diego DUI, it is usually not plastered on the
news unless someone has been harmed. However, as soon as a celebrity obtains a San Diego DUI, everyone hears about it. Well, another celebrity has obtained a DUI this
month. Actor Will Patton (who has been in some great movies) got in trouble.

Unintended Consequences: A DUI arrest and the impact it has on the accused job

I was reading the news today when I came across the article about a principal who was removed from his job because of a DUI arrest.  Unintended consequences... it is one of the most appropriate terms for a San Diego DUI.  Does someone's decision making need to be scrutinized by their employer if someone gets a San Diego DUI?

All SD high schools to get San Diego police officers

If this does get implemented I do not want to hear about budget issues regarding body cameras.  Getting a single point of entry at a high school?  Are you going to be watching the far fence as someone hops over it?  If it is known the school officer is near the entrance than the logical place to sneak in is.....just about everywhere else.  Also, if someone starts shooting wouldnt that one entrance/exit be the best place?

Are police lying in wait outside bars off SR-78?

There is no doubt police know where the local drinking establishments are.  Around 2am around those establishments the officers may as well be great whites waiting for the seals to jump in the water.  Some people like this tactic and say it stops potential San Diego DUI drivers at the source.  However, there is a lot of people who will be getting pulled over for ticky tack BS.  For example, the officer stopped a recent client who did not turn their lights on about 10 feet out of the stall.  The officer noted they waited about 20 feet before they turned on their headlights.
The funny thing....this client was .04% and was only a client because they suspected she as DUI.  She was arrested, vehicle towed only to get a "sorry" when the blood came back .04%.  It was two beers like she said.....

16 Arrested At San Diego DUI Checkpoint Near Mardi Gras Party In Downtown San Diego

San Diego seems to be having a big party every few weeks.  It really is a happening town.  Part of the scene is usually alcohol.  This usually makes for a few San Diego DUI arrests.  As people plan to go out part of the equation should no doubt be finding a way to be safe and get home (as well as keep other people out of harms way). Here is to a good Thursday that feels like a Wednesday.

Some Bars Adding Breathalyzer Vending Machines

There is always a fight to curb the unwise decisions people make when they decide to drink alcohol and drive impaired.  San Diego estebalishments may want to look into this to be at the forefront of preventing San Diego DUIs. Maybe the city will provide tax credit or other incentive for establishments to have a device like this.

Know your rights: San Diego DUI Checkpoints Investigations

It seems like a good time to refresh on your rights at a San Diego DUI Checkpoint.   It is important for citizens to know their rights.  As a San Diego DUI and Criminal defense attorney, I can tell you that most people do not use their rights when being investigated by the police.  Most of the people want to be compliant and non-confrontational with the officer as possible in a San Diego DUI or San Diego criminal defense case.  They feel if they are compliant the officer will let them go, usually because the person has never been in contact with police before when they are the ones being investigated.  It may be you...a friend...or a loved one as the focus of a San Diego DUI or criminal defense investigation. You have to know and use your rights and be proud (and not scared) to use them.

San Diego Police Body Cameras, Big Costs Loom in Storing Footage

Do not worry about the cost San Diego...it is worth it.  Where are they going to get the money from....how about the fund they pay to litigate allegations of excessive police force of pay outs when San Diego Police did abuse their discretion.  Video will likely curb a lot of excessive force issues.

Ex-DMV Official Admits to Taking Bribes for San Diego DUI

A License Suspension is one of the worst punishments that usually come with a San Diego DUI.  If your license gets suspended after the San Diego APS hearing there will be some period of time before somone can drive again. The driver will not be able to drive....with no exceptions. To get back driving you have to be enrolled in a San Diego DUI course and have other items to the DMV.  The APS hearing is separate from the courthouse dates that someone will also have to deal with.

Bar servers can aid in reducing San Diego drunken driving

San Diego DUI prevention is a community issue.  People will always make unwise decisions.  The decision to drink too much and then brave the ride home is all too frequent.  Any and every technique that can be in place to cast a net when people inevitably make the wrong choice.

SDSU police developing app to promote campus safety

Technology has advanced criminal law and crime prevention.  However, it must run with rules of evidence that has been in place for some time.  The 911 call gives some sense of the incident.  A judge or juror can hear the 911 call and place it with other facts to show emotion.  A text message is words.

Police Ramp Up San Diego DUI Patrols After Super Bowl

It would be interesting to see stats to determine if there are more San Diego DUIs when the game is close than a blowout.  Last nights dramatic finish was one for the ages (Pete...use the beast).  This likely meant noone was leaving the bar or party early.  The counter argument is maybe people stopped drinking earlier and were not impaired by the time they left.  We shall see the stats as it develops.
