Who is behind the mask?  Comic Con is a great event that brings people from all over.  In any large event it is key to make sure you are aware of your surroundings and are around people you trust.

This is especially so if you decide to drink.  The incident below is terrible.  I am wondering if this young juvenile went to comic con alone.  San Diego Harbor Police are investigating.  If all of this is true it is a blemish on such a fun and cool event.

San Diego Harbor Police have arrested a man on charges of sexual contact with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. This follows online reports of a cosplayer who attended Comic-Con International being found unconscious and bloody on a San Diego street.

No official information has been made available beyond what was provided in the following statement from police:

Harbor Police arrested a 29-year-old man early Sunday morning, July 27th in a hotel at 333 West Harbor Drive. He was booked into San Diego County Jail at 11:20 am on charges of sexual contact with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of minor. The victim, a juvenile female, was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. The Harbor Police Investigations Unit is handling the incident. This investigation is ongoing.

A police spokesperson was unable to confirm whether the incident described in the statement — which occurred at approximately 1:15 AM on July 27 — is related to the previously reported assault.

On Tuesday, The Beat reported a cosplayer who attended Comic-Con International in San Diego had been found, injured and bloodied, on a street near the convention center.

According to a post on Tumblr, a female minor who had attended SDCC as a cosplayer was found on the side of a road, unconscious, bloody and with no ID. The Tumblr post quoted a Facebook update by the cosplayer’s mother, asking for anyone with information about what happened to her daughter to contact the San Diego Police Department. The mother and father both posted updates to their Facebook pages, indicating their daughter, a Southern California native, is in the intensive care unit with a brain bleed.

CBR News contacted the San Diego Police Department and the Harbor Police several times throughout the day for more information. While earlier calls simply informed us that police were looking into the allegations, later in the evening, the Harbor Police released the statement quoted above.
