Scram and San Diego DUIs

| Sep 8, 2014 | Firm News |

Scram is a part of San Diego DUIs. Some courthouse locations in the county use it more than others. It can be used at the beginning of the San Diego DUI process or part of the sanction/resolution.

Many people that have been arrested for a San Diego DUI are asked by the arraignment court hearing to abstain from any use of alcohol before their case is brought before the judge. The monitoring several people 24 hours a day 7 days a week while they wait for the case to go to trial is unreasonable if not impossible.

The judge will consider SCRAM when the individual has any of the following:

1. A high blood alcohol level.

2. There was a collision involved in the incident.

3. Individual has DUI or alcohol related priors.

Or any combination thereof.

You need to be ready when you come into court to argue this when your client has any of these cases. This is exactly one of the reasons I have clients be proactive. It is to be a shield and a sword. You have to fight off any additional sanctions/conditions. You then use the proactive items to get you the best resolution possible. When blended with finding proof issues these items can lead to a good resolution.

Here is some information on Scram, which is a must if you are dealing with a San Diego DUI.

San Diego DUI and SCRAM

If you are
arrested for a DUI in San Diego, you may have jail time as part of your
sentence. For some people, jail time is just not an option, such as someone who
is the sole provider for their family or maybe because of their job. There are
some options for those people, practical alternatives to jail. One of those
alternatives are the SCRAM alcohol ankle bracelet. This bracelet regularly
monitors your alcohol, to help make sure you are in an alcohol free atmosphere.

What does this mean?

If you have
been arrested for a DUI, you may be able to use the SCRAM bracelet as an
alternative to jail. Additionally, the bracelet is available if you have been
convicted of other alcohol related crimes, or if you just necessitate monitored
sobriety. When jail time is just not an option for you, look into the SCRAM
bracelet and it may be a practical substitute to jail.
