San Diego County Driving Under the influence (DUI) punishments have gotten tougher in 2019.  The laws have changed as well as local guidelines determining what the punishments should be.

As an attorney who practices in primarily DUI cases, a big part of a favorable resolution is ensuring my clients do not go to jail.  It is a tall task when someone has a prior and even more so if they are on probation.  The best way to steer a client who has facts like this is routing the punishment as much as possible to CPAC.  Call the Law Offices of Mark Deniz now at 858-751-4384 to get the ball rolling.

CPAC and San Diego DUI
When someone is arrested for a DUI, that person, along with
many other obligations, may have to do time in jail. This can be very difficult
for some people, as many people have jobs and families that require their
presence and attention. If eligible, one alternative to jail is the County
Parole and Alternative Custody Unit Home Detention Electronic Monitoring
Program (CPAC). This program allows an someone to stay out of jail while still
serving time. However, although people are assessed by an electronic monitoring
vendor to determine their daily fee, for people requiring alcohol monitoring
must pay a daily fee of $7 (non-negotiable). Fees may be more when the charge is alcohol related.

What
does this mean?

If you have been arrested for a DUI in San Diego and would
like to participate in CPAC, you must call or submit a request to the office.
You will have to pay the required amount, but this may be a viable option when
jail is not. You should also find out whether you are eligible, as certain
factors make people automatically ineligible. These include defendants with
open or pending charges, or committing charges on an exclusionary list. This
program can be a practical alternative for someone who cannot afford to spend
time in jail. Everyone makes mistakes, and this tool can help someone be
accountable for their actions while still maintaining a life.
